And I'm Not Kidding
Hey! Welcome!
So, what is “And I’m Not Kidding (.com)”? (The (.com) is very important, so a friend would have me believe.) Well, it’s just a blog for me to publish my thoughts on video games and the video game industry. I don’t expect this to really get any readership at all, and I’m going to treat it more as an exercise in collecting my thoughts than anything seriously trying to do anything.
There might be some reviews when I play a game and have opinions. There might be general thoughts on industry events. Maybe there’ll be ramblings on how I feel about the directon it seems like the industry is heading in. I might even publish my Game Awards predictions so I can look back and laugh at how wrong they were later.
As an opener, I suppose I should specify that the name is true. I’m not kidding. I wouldn’t mind a future where we get shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less. Crunch is pervasive and damaging, and I can only imagine it’s exacerbated by the now very lengthy dev cycles due to expectations on scope and graphical fidelity. AAA game development doesn’t seem to show signs of slowing down on increasing scope and dev timelines.
Anyway, yeah, that’s what’s going on here. I have some thoughts kicking around about what I might write about soon. I’ve been playing Starfield, and I’m always thinking about FEZ. Ludum Dare 54 is upon us and some friends and I were gonna work on that next weekend. The game subscription model and cloud gaming plans are always nagging at me. Things are happening, always and forever, I’ll be posting again soon to talk about them.
